Carterton School

Carterton School is a state co-educational full primary school catering for children from New Entrants to Year 8 (5 to 13 year olds). The school is a Grade U5 and is rated decile 4. The site of the school is near the centre of the town adjacent to Carrington Park. The roll of the school fluctuates and in the middle of the year is usually about 320-330 children. Carterton is a 'country town' of about four thousand people, situated in the Wairarapa Valley 12km south of Masterton and 95km from Wellington. Many people commute daily to Wellington to work. The cost of housing has risen markedly in recent years as Carterton has become a town of choice for many people.
